Micro-credit - Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK)

Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK) is an apex micro-finance organization established in 1993 under the aegis of Ministry of Women & Child Development (MWCD). It provides micro-credit to poor women (individuals & SHGs) for livelihood support and income generating activities at concessional terms. RMK has sanctioned over Rs.360 crore and disbursement of Rs.302 crore to more than 7.35 lacs poor women beneficiaries through a network of over 1500 NGOs and intermediary organisations. The loan extendable per women beneficiary is limited to Rs.60,000/- (1st Loan) and Rs.1,00,000/- (Repeat Loan), as per revised RBI guidelines. The maximum rate of interest chargeable by RMK to NGOs is 6%, and that chargeable by NGOs to the end beneficiaries is 10%.
